The file list

The file list is the archive of Puntotek: from here you open, preview, rename and delete everything you have saved, and reach the online libraries.

One tap on a file selects it; once something is selected the action buttons light up. A double tap previews it straight away (or opens the folders in the WWW tab).

The tabs separate what is yours from what lives online: the first three (Works, Fonts and Motifs) are the files saved on the device, and the last two live on the server — the public collections and, if your account is linked, your cloud and your licences.

Tabs and buttons, one by one

Works tab in Puntotek

Works tab

Your patterns saved on the device.

Fonts tab in Puntotek

Fonts tab

The stitch typefaces: to use them in the text editor or to edit them in the font design mode.

Motifs tab in Puntotek

Motifs tab

The cuttings you saved with a name from the copy and paste menu; loading one drops it on the clipboard, ready to paste.

WWW tab in Puntotek

WWW tab

The public Puntotek collections, sorted into folders by theme. Double tap to go into a folder and see its patterns; from inside you can preview them and load them as if they were your own. It needs internet: with no connection the tab switches itself off.

My cloud and My licences tab in Puntotek

My cloud and My licences tab

What is yours but lives on the server. The tab holds two folders and it is only active if you have your account linked and a connection.

  • My cloud: The works and fonts you uploaded by saving with the cloud button on. Your backup and your bridge between devices.
  • My licences: The patterns licensed to your name. They preview and load like any other; they are always there, even if you change device.
Sorting the list A to Z in Puntotek
Sorting the list Z to A in Puntotek

Sort

A two-state button that sorts the list by name. Each press swaps over, and the icon changes so you know which one you are in.

  • A to Z: The usual order, alphabetical.
  • Z to A: The list upside down. Handy when the last thing you saved starts with a late letter.

Inside the WWW folders, in My cloud and in My licences it shows greyed out: there the order is decided by the server.

Previewing a file in Puntotek

Preview

Shows the pattern of the selected file without opening it, so you find what you are after without loading anything. It works the same with the files on the server: you look before you bring anything to the device. A double tap on a file does the same.

Loading a file in Puntotek

Load

Opens the selected file, and each thing goes where it belongs: works to the canvas, fonts to their editor and motifs to the clipboard, ready to paste.

With the files on the server there is one thing worth knowing: a work opens straight on the canvas, but a font from the collections is not opened, it is installed — it stays saved in your Fonts tab and Puntotek tells you it is there, ready for the text editor.

Renaming a file in Puntotek

Rename

Asks for a new name for the selected file. Without overwriting: if the name already exists it warns you and touches nothing. It only works with your files on the device (Works, Fonts and Motifs); in the server tabs it is greyed out.

Deleting a file in Puntotek

Delete

Removes the selected file, with a confirmation. In your personal cloud, it deletes the file from the cloud.

Closing the list in Puntotek
Help in Puntotek

Close / Help

Two simple buttons: leave the list, or open this help page when you need a reminder.

  • Close the list: Goes back to the canvas without opening any file. It also closes with the Esc (Escape) key, without touching the button.
  • Open help: Opens the explanation of the current screen.

My personal cloud

Your cloud folder holds the works and fonts you uploaded by saving with the cloud button on. You can preview them, download them to any device and delete them: it is your backup and your bridge between devices. You start a design on the computer, upload it, and carry on stitching it on the tablet from the sofa.

One thing to watch: deleting in the cloud deletes in the cloud. If you also have the file on the device, that one stays; and the other way round, deleting the local copy does not touch the uploaded one. They are two different places.

Tips

  • The list is sorted by name, so the name is your folder: start the files of the same series with the same word (christmas-reindeer, christmas-bauble) and they group themselves.
  • Preview before you load. It is quicker than opening the work and leaving again, and it does not change the one you have on the canvas.
  • Save with the cloud on every now and then, even if you always work in the same place: it is the only copy that survives losing the device.
