Yes. And for a reason that surprises almost everyone: Puntotek is not installed like ordinary programs. There is nothing to download and run.
When someone asks whether a program is safe, they are usually picturing the same thing: a file downloaded from the internet that runs on their computer and does who knows what. That is a fair worry. The answer here is that this never happens at any point, and this page explains exactly why.
There is no installer
Puntotek is a progressive web app, known as a PWA. In plain words: it is this same website, saved as an icon on your desktop or your phone. When you open it from that icon it fills the screen, with no address bar and no tabs, and behaves like any other program. But underneath it is still the website you are reading right now.
That single fact brings all of these with it:
- No executable file is downloaded. No
.exe, no.dmg, no.apk. There is nothing for an antivirus to examine and no system warning for you to click through. - It asks for no administrator rights. No real program installs without them; this one does not need them because it never touches the system.
- It does not run on its own. It does not start with your computer, it does not sit in the background, it installs no services.
- Uninstalling means removing the icon. No stray folders, no registry entries, nothing left behind to clean up.
What it cannot do on your device
Living inside the browser, Puntotek is locked in the same box the browser locks any web page into. That box is guarded by Google, Apple and Microsoft, not by us, and whoever writes the app cannot open it.
In practice: Puntotek only sees the files you open and the ones you save. It cannot rummage through your folders, read your documents, or watch what you do in other programs or other tabs. When you open a pattern, you are the one picking the file in your system’s own window; when you save, you are the one saying where.
Always current, with no effort
Outdated programs are a well-known security problem: someone installs a version, never updates it, and keeps three-year-old flaws. That cannot happen here. Because the app is the website, opening it always gives you the latest version. There are no patches to download and no old versions floating around.
Your patterns and your data
- You can use Puntotek without an account. Designing, importing images and saving to your own device require no sign-up.
- Everything travels encrypted (HTTPS), like your bank.
- What you upload to the cloud starts private. Only you can see it. It appears in the gallery only when you decide so, work by work, and you can hide it again whenever you want.
- Image-to-pattern conversion happens on your device, not on our server.
- You can delete your account from your own panel, along with everything you have uploaded.
About tracking: this website uses Google Analytics to see which pages get visited, as most sites do, and says so in the cookie policy. The app does not. While you are designing in Puntotek, no third-party tracking follows you.
Is there anything to pay?
Nothing is charged today. There is no payment processing in place and no card details are requested anywhere on the site. If paid plans ever arrive, it will be announced and explained right here.
What you should know
It is not all upside, and we would rather tell you before you get a surprise:
- If you clear the site data in your browser, the work saved locally goes with it. That is the one real risk of losing something. This is what the cloud is for: whatever you upload stays there even if you change device or wipe your machine.
- On iPhone and iPad you must install it by hand, from Safari’s Share button. Also, iOS may release stored data if you go many weeks without opening it.
- It is not on Google Play or the App Store. There is no store badge to lean on: it does not go through their review, though it does not go through their commissions or permissions either.
- The account and the cloud need a connection. Designing does not: once installed, you can work offline.
How to install it
- Windows and Mac, with Chrome or Edge: open the app and click the install icon in the address bar. It is also in the browser menu, as “Install Puntotek”.
- Android, with Chrome: three-dot menu, then “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”.
- iPhone and iPad, with Safari: Share button, then “Add to Home Screen”.
To uninstall, remove the icon like any other app.
