A steam locomotive coming straight at you: the dark boiler with its rivets, the headlamp lit, 4014 on the plate, the handrails and rods in gold, and the red cowcatcher filling the front. Behind it, the smoke climbing in blue-greys and the red carriages trailing off into the curve. It is 177 x 254 stitches in 16 colors, about 32 by 46 centimetres on 14-count: a wall piece, and an upright one, which is rare in this collection. It is also the most demanding pattern here: the smoke and the metalwork are full of single stitches, so it asks for patience and good light.
