The old faithful 2CV, in blue and at three quarters, with its canvas roof rolled back — half the charm of the car: the moment the sun comes out, the roof goes. The bonnet keeps its corrugations, one by one, the grille its chrome bars, and the headlamps stand free on their stalks like two eyes fixed ahead. Behind the windscreen you can see the steering wheel and the dashboard, and the seats with their ribbing. The wheels wear pale hubcaps with blue centres, and the bumper, the sill trim and the window frames are all chrome. Above, the lettering «Citroën 2CV 1948» stitched in navy and red with its two rules: the sign comes with the pattern. It is 306 x 221 stitches in only twelve colours, the most frugal of the family, with 38,909 stitches — every one a whole cross, no halves and no backstitch. More than a third of the work goes in a single blue, DMC 3845, so the bodywork moves along by itself. One useful warning: this one is designed for ivory fabric, not white. On 14-count it comes out at about 55 x 40 cm; on 18-count, 43 x 31.
