A crusader face on, helm closed and sword pointing to the ground, with the motto "Custos fidei" — keeper of the faith — stitched above in blackletter with its red initial. 98 x 208 stitches and only 10 colors: it looks harder than it is, because it is all flat blocks of color.
It is tall and narrow, more than twice as long as it is wide, so it asks to hang like a banner rather than sit in a frame. And it pairs with Custos Fidei knight II, the same figure in brown and steel, to face each other.

Suggested fabric: white.

What this one asks of you
All 8,962 stitches are full cross stitch: no half stitches and no backstitch to follow.
It has 86 lone stitches, 1.0 % of the total, and 15 of those have no neighbour of their color at all. The more there are, the more the needle jumps.
